MONROE, N.C. – AKRA is pleased to announce that the Dart Kart Club has ramped up their awards package in 2021 at the June national at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and the September season-closer at Pittsburgh International Race Complex.
Silver “wine coolers” will be awarded to winners in all national classes at both Mid-Ohio and Pittsburgh, while second- and third-place finishers will earn silver bowls for their efforts.
These awards are considered legendary by many in road race karting. For years podium finishers at Daytona were awarded the silver wine cooler and cups, and AKRA officials are excited to announce these special awards will return at two of the biggest road race karting nationals of the year.
“This is a great addition to a couple of very special events at Mid-Ohio and Pittsburgh,” AKRA’s Bill McCutcheon stated. “Hats off to the Dart Kart Club officials for making this happen. This truly is giving back to the racer for their great efforts. The Mid-Ohio and Pitt events have been very well-attended in recent years with outstanding competition in nearly every division. Dart Kart has spent a lot of money on these awards so racers have an opportunity to compete for some outstanding prizes, and we couldn’t be more excited to announce this.”
The Mid-Ohio national is set for June 18-20 as round two of the 2021 AKRA Road Race Series. Pittsburgh will close the six-race season September 24-26.
The 2021 AKRA kicks off May 22-23 at Summit Point Motorsports Park in the West Virginia panhandle. Pre-registration will open soon.
