2021 AKRA Tech Release – March 30, 2021

This release is for the ROK VLR and IAME KA100 engines competing in the AIR COOLED 100cc TaG Enduro class – laydown karts only.

After many calls from racers and working with RLV the following rules are in place prior to the start of the AKRA Road Race Series season this May 22-23 at Summit Point, W. Va. The rules are based on ease of use and current availability of pipes.

The six pipes allowed are L2, L3, L4 at a minimum of 8” length, G4 at a minimum 9.5” and IR1 or IR2 at a minimum 9”. Length measurement is from piston face to end of flex. Must use a 1.75” header. Any angle is allowed. Reed jet headers also fit the KA100.

The recommendation is to start longer initially. AKRA will evaluate the pipes during the 2021 season with the intent of one or two pipes only for the 2022 season.

All AKRA national races hosted by the Dart Kart Club and the Woodbridge Kart Club events will follow these rules. Direct questions to AKRA Vice President Van Gilder at 229-848-0483 or vanelite@live.com.

Here’s a message from AKRA CEO Bill McCutcheon.

“We have received numerous calls in regards to possible changes to our 2020 Road Racing Schedule in lieu of the Coronavirus outbreak. Our first points race of the season is slated for June 19-21 at Mid-Ohio, over two months away.

At this point in time we have had no discussions in regards to making any schedule changes. If for some reason that changes we will give ample time for re-planing your travel plans and time off. In the meantime, we hope that each of you will be safe and take care of your family. Let’s all continue to pray for our country as we go through these trying times,” McCutcheon stated.
