WAMPUM, Pa. — This weekend — Sept. 23-25 — marks the sixth and final round of the 2022 AKRA / Hoosier Kartsport National Road Race Series hosted by the Dart Kart Club at Pittsburgh International Race Complex in western Pennsylvania.
Dart Kart closed pre-registration for the highly anticipated event last Wednesday and club officials have reported 205 drivers have pre-entered totaling 621 race entries for Saturday and Sunday’s action. At-track registration will open at 7:30am Friday and remain open through the end of practice at 5pm.
The Pittsburgh Nationals counts toward a number of series’ point standings including AKRA, Dart Kart, WKA, Woodbridge Kart Club and the Championship Enduro Series. The event closes out each group’s 2022 series other than CES, which closes Oct. 21-23 at Ozarks International Raceway in Missouri.
Once again the Pitt Nationals will be held on Pitt Race’s challenging 19-turn, 2.78-mile Full Circuit. The track is fast and technical with elevation change throughout, and over the last several years it’s become known as one of the most popular in the country for road race karting.
Pitt Race gates will open for karters at 6pm Thursday for pit pass sales, parking, pre-registration pickup and pre-tech. The circuit will be open for track walks and all the aforementioned services will run till 10pm.
Friday features a full day of group practice from 9am to 5:30pm with a one-hour lunch break. The special Vintage Enduro Kart Celebration race will be held between 5:30 and 6pm to close out the day. Click here for information on the Vintage Celebration.
More practice will be offered from 9 to 11am Saturday and Sunday mornings before eight race groups run each day. Dart Kart has purchased extra track time each day with the scheduled end time shortly after 6pm both Saturday and Sunday.
