6 Races at 5 Premier Tracks Fill 2021 AKRA Road Race Schedule

AKRA 2021 Road Race Series ScheduleAKRA officials are looking forward to another great Road Race Series in 2021 with six big events at five outstanding road courses in Ohio, Michigan, western Pennsylvania and the West Virginia panhandle.

The series will open May 22-23 with a new event for AKRA – the Woodbridge Kart Club spring date on the Main Course at Summit Point Motorsports Park.

Nestled in the panhandle of West Virginia only miles from the Virginia line near Winchester, the 2.0-mile “Summit Main” has been a staple track for enduro-style karting every year since the early 1970s. While the annual August race at Summit Main was an AKRA points event in 2020, this will be the first time the May event is an AKRA-sanctioned race and it is a two-day show (no Friday practice).

Less than a month later on June 18-20 round two will have the Vega Tire AKRA series at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for what should be the biggest road race event of the year in terms of entry count.  Hosted by the Dart Kart Club, the annual June Mid-Ohio national has only grown in numbers in recent years with 600-plus entrants filling the Lexington, Ohio, garage area and paddock. The 2021 version of the Mid-Ohio show is primed to be another huge turnout.

On July 9-11 the series will head north to Grattan Raceway in Belding, Michigan for round three. The Grattan event is always a good one to follow-up Mid-Ohio and it’s hosted by the Championship Enduro Series.

The summer will stay hot with AKRA road racers back in action two weeks later with round four July 23-25 at Nelson Ledges Road Course in Garrettsville, Ohio. The Nelson Ledges round is the second of three Dart Kart Club events in 2021.

One month later AKRA racers will get another shot at Summit Point with a second Woodbridge Kart Club-hosted two-day race on the Main Course August 21-22.

The 2021 tour will close September 24-26 with another highly-anticipated Dart Kart Club-hosted race, this time at the 2.8-mile Full Course at Pittsburgh International Race Complex near Wampum, Pa. In recent years only Mid-Ohio and Daytona have drawn more entrants than Pittsburgh in road race karting.
