AKRA Road Race Series back in action June 17-19 with Mid-Ohio Nationals

LEXINGTON, Ohio — One of the biggest annual kart races in America will take place this weekend at the famous Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course where Round 2 of the AKRA / Hoosier Kartsport National Road Race Series will run Friday through Sunday, June 17-19.

Following a huge turnout at the season opener last month at Summit Point, AKRA officials are expecting another impressive gathering of karters at Mid-Ohio of the annual Dart Kart Club-hosted event, which marks the one and only kart race of the year at the famed 2.2-mile central Ohio road course.

In recent years the Mid-Ohio Nationals has set record turnouts with over 300 drivers in attendance and race entries surpassing 900 last year. The event regularly attracts the largest fields of the year in classes such as CIK 125 Shifter and Yamaha Pipe for laydown enduros. A host of other divisions always include impressive, competitive fields, as well.

While another record turnout is not expected this year, likely due to the current economics in America, hundreds of pre-entries have been received and racing is sure to be extremely competitive with large fields in many divisions across the board.

Pit pass sales and gates will open Thursday, June 16 at 6pm with pre-registration pickup and pre-tech offered till 10pm.

Group practice is Friday from 8:30am to 5pm with morning practice and eight race groups running both Saturday and Sunday.
