CHARLOTTE, N.C. — By now, most of us have read the news about Pitt Race and had a some time to process it. While Pitt Race can never truly be replaced, AKRA is working closely with Dart Kart Club to schedule a September 2026 DKC-hosted AKRA Road Racing Series event at an alternate venue.
“Both myself and Dart Kart officials believe it’s important to continue to offer our road racers three events each year in the Midwest region, which included Pitt Race in western Pa., for the better part of the last decade,” AKRA owner Van Gilder said. “With the news of Pitt’s upcoming closure, we want our customers to know that we immediately began exploring options to keep Dart Kart’s series at three races, and the AKRA National program at five races in conjunction with DKC and Woodbridge Kart Club. While we don’t have an official announcement yet, I believe we’ll have something to share in the very near future regarding our 2026 schedule.”
AKRA wishes to thank every driver, family, and team member who attended what appears to be the final Pittsburgh Road Racing Nationals this past Sept. 26–28.
If this was indeed the final time — thank you to everyone who supported this great event through the last nine years. We had a record turnout of nearly 300 drivers and 850+ race entries in September 2021, and while entries had dipped from that level in recent seasons, Pitt Race remained one of the largest road race karting events in the world through just a couple of weeks ago.
