Big numbers again at 2023 Mid-Ohio Road Race Nationals

LEXINGTON, Ohio — Dart Kart Club is preparing for what looks to be another huge crowd at this year’s annual American Kart Racing Association (AKRA) / Hoosier Kartsport Road Race Nationals June 16-18 at the famed Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Pre-registration for the annual Fathers Day weekend event opened on May 10 and in less than a week 179 drivers had pre-entered for Friday practice to tally 534 race entries for Saturday and Sunday’s programs.

According to club treasurer Gene Davis, those numbers reach 85 percent of last year’s pre-entry totals.

Another incredible note is that 120 drivers that raced last year’s Mid-Ohio Nationals have not yet entered this year’s race.

In recent years Mid-Ohio has become the largest event for enduro-style road racing, attracting between 250 to 300 drivers and 750 to 1,000 race entries each year.

Divisions for nearly every type of kart are offered including 250cc Super Karts, Unlimiteds, 125cc CIK Shifters and TaGs, 100cc Air Cooled TaGs, Briggs 206s and Animals, Yamaha and 100cc Controlled laydown enduros, 2-cycle sprint-enduros, vintage karts and more.
