Midwest Karting Association to host two AKRA road races at Lake Afton, KS

GODDARD, Kan. — Midwest Karting Association (MKA) is thrilled to share their two events for the 2024 karting season held at Lake Afton Park in Goddard, KS will be held under the AKRA banner known as the Midwest AKRA Road Race Series.

Road Racing events have been held at Lake Afton since 1961 and continues to be hosted by Kelly Read and family. This historic 1.8-mile road course offers 9/10ths of a mile of straightaway to maximize top speeds on the smoothed surface around!

By day we are laying rubber, enjoying the smell of race fuel and the sounds of engines screaming through the great outdoors! However in Kansas, our event weekends offer much more than just a road race. We embrace the wide-open space that this facility gives us for some of the best sunsets, barbecue’s, yard games and lake views with our family and friends after a day of on track competition.

Lake Afton provides excellent star gazing camping for everyone; RV’s, campers and tents. It’s free electrical, hot showers, breakfast/ lunch/ dinner made fresh by our local Boy Scout group making it a relaxing weekend.

Join us for the Battle at the Lake May 4-5 and the Sunflower State Showdown September 14-15.

Contact Kelly Read for questions at 316-807-3577.
