Pitt Race will be full of road race karters Sept. 24-26

BIG BEAVER, Pa. – The annual Dart Kart Club-hosted AKRA Road Race Nationals at Pittsburgh Int’l Race Complex is upon us as race teams from across the country will begin to fill the Pitt Race pit area Thursday evening leading up to Friday’s full day of practice followed by the Vintage Enduro Kart Celebration race. As always, the event will be held on the high-speed, challenging 19-turn, 2.78-mile Full Circuit track.

Over 230 racers have pre-entered for Friday practice, making up approximately 700 race entries between Saturday and Sunday’s classes. At-track registration will open Friday at 7:30am for those who did not pre-enter.

This weekend’s Pittsburgh event will likely become the second best-attended road race karting event of the year after June’s Mid-Ohio Dart Kart / AKRA Nationals, which attracted 942 race entries.

A number of cash prizes for various divisions will be up for grabs thanks to the efforts of Josh Nevels and others. We expect the largest classes to mirror Mid-Ohio, including Yamaha Pipe laydown, 4-Cycle Sprint, CIK LO206, CIK 125 Shifter, Stock Honda, TaG Senior and Super Kart. We expect a good crowd of vintage karts for Friday’s celebration event and Saturday and Sunday’s vintage categories. Many other classes will attract double-digit fields taking the green flag.

This weekend’s Pittsburgh national will close the six-race 2021 AKRA Road Race Series. The event is also a points race for Dart Kart, Woodbridge Kart Club, Championship Enduro Series and WKA.

Gates open for parking Thursday at 6pm. Gates will close at 10pm.

Friday’s drivers meeting is set for 8am with group practice slated to run from 9am to 4:30pm with a one-hour lunch break midday. The Vintage Enduro Kart Celebration will go off soon after the end of practice.

Group practice will continue Saturday from 9am to 11am with seven race groups to follow. Sunday’s practice will also run from 9am to 11am with seven race groups to close out the weekend.
