GARRETTSVILLE, Ohio — Road racers enjoyed a terrific latest edition of the Dart Kart Club-hosted AKRA / Hoosier Kartsport Road Racing Series Nationals at Nelson Ledges Road Course in Northeast Ohio July 19-21.
As the late AKRA founder Bill McCutcheon would have stated, “Chamber of Commerce weather” greeted teams and officials during the three-day event with cool temperatures in early morning and mid- to upper 80s temps and sunny skies throughout the afternoons.

Seven complete rounds of practice were held Friday with 8-minute sessions in every round. Teams received a couple rounds of warmups both Saturday and Sunday mornings to give drivers plenty of opportunity to test their chassis and engine setups before racing began.
Eight race groups ran full distances each day with six 30-minute sprint groups and two 45-minute enduros.
Overall, Dart Kart collected approximately 260 race entries with around 100 racers in attendance. Yamaha Enduro (Pipe) was the largest class with 14 entries with TaG 125 Lite next with 10 entries. Race Group 1 was the largest each day with 28 karts on track among the TaG 125, TaG 100 (KA) and Piston Port Sprint divisions.
Ohio’s Colin Jędrzejek won the Yamaha Enduro final both days while Michigan’s Rod Williams and New York’s Nolan Ruocco split the TaG 125 Lite finals. Results can be viewed on the Race Monitor app or website and official results will be posted soon on Speedhive / MYLAPS under Dart Kart Club.
The only red flag that waved all weekend was for a small brush fire off track near Turn 3. Nelson Ledges management had the scene cleared within minutes and practice resumed immediately.

Next up for the AKRA / Hoosier Kartsport National Road Racing Series is Round 4 this August 23-25 at Summit Point Motorsports Park’s 2-mile Summit Point (formerly Main) Circuit.
