Viper Racing UK/Wilhelm Motor Sports has signed on as the latest sponsor of the American Kart Road-Racing Alliance (AKRA) / Hoosier Kartsport National Road Racing Series.
The partnership includes the backing of a new AKRA division for SuperKarts—Super Kart Super Single. Team owner Brian Wilhelm has been a top competitor in SuperKarts and Formula 125 enduros for many years with a number of wins and podiums.
While being a longtime staple in road racing, the SuperKart class has recently seen surprising growth, specifically in single cylinder motors.
In response to this growth, AKRA has created the Super Single SuperKart class. This class includes all current single cylinder 250cc purpose-built kart motors such as the DEA, GasGas, Viper SK250S, etc.
Brian Wilhelm said: “The new AKRA Super Singles SuperKart class targets the rapidly increasing presence of the single cylinder 250cc motors, and Viper Racing UK / Wilhelm Motor Sports is proud to sponsor this class. The participation numbers clearly show that the Viper SK250S motor is driving the current growth of SuperKart racing here in the US. Viper Racing UK and Wilhelm Motor Sports are working together to provide trackside technical support and parts inventory to help fuel this growth.”
The AKRA National Road Racing Series is the largest of its kind in karting with five events taking place between May and September each year, and Wilhelm Motor Sports joins a growing list of sponsors, including Drive Your Line Kartsport, Hoosier Kartsport, FHS Supply Co., Michigan Kart Supply, RLV Tuned Exhaust Products, and TS Racing.
